Get to know me and my small business

Hello friends, a lot of you have recently signed up for my newsletter or started following me on social media so I wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I am Jasmine Wall, the founder and designer of The Imagination Spot. I started my small business in 2014 while I was working full time as an illustrator and graphic designer in a gift company. Working late in the evenings, I built up my greeting card line which included digitally created as well as lino-cut hand printed designs. I spent many weekends at local art and craft shows and slowly started selling my greeting cards wholesale to local card and gift shops. In the last few years, I have expanded my product line to other stationery products, accessories as well as some home goods. This year I took the leap and opened up my own stationery and gift shop in downtown Goshen, Indiana where you can find unique products by many small makers like myself.

My family - The Imagination Spot

To this day, this is still mostly a one woman business. I am not only the designer of all of the Imagination Spot products but I also fold cards, package them, ship orders, do all paper work, answer emails, curate and order products for the shop as well as do other day to day shop duties. I am very thankful to have a very helpful husband who helps with all the displays in the shop and drives our daughter around for all her dance classes and theater practices while I am still working at the shop. Our 10 year old daughter is a little performer and brings great joy to our lives. You will also find our new seasonal help, Emily, at the shop on Sundays and Mondays this December.

This entrepreneurial journey has been anything but easy for our family but I love every bit of it. I am very thankful to everyone who has supported The Imagination Spot online and in person. I am humbled by all the love and encouraging comments I get from all our local shoppers. Thank you for supporting my small business.

If you are local, please come and support all your local shops in downtown Goshen this Small Business Saturday, November 30th. To thank you for your support, we will be offering free gift with every purchase on both Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. Make sure to pick up your Small Business Saturday map from the participating locations and get them stamped for your chance to win gifts from each of them. More details are available here.

For our online customers, we will be offering Free Shipping on all U.S. based orders placed on November 29 and 30th with the code “THANKFUL019”.

An ode to gift wrapping

Oh, the glory of a well-wrapped gift!  You know the type: Perfectly coiffed in quality paper, a bow so magnificent that it puts all other bows to shame and, as Dr. Seuss says in the television version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, “with fuzzle fuzz and fliffer bloofs and wuzzle wuzz…[and] yards of whoflut flay.”
